Providing Enrichment for Rabbits

Abstract

This bitesize lecture focuses on the importance of providing enrichment for rabbits and how to do so in order to help improve the welfare of pet rabbits.  The lecture looks at many rabbit needs in line with the Animal Welfare Act: Company; Foraging and a correct diet; Environmental needs and space; Toys and entertainment; and Digging and Chewing.  It is therefore ideal for any VN who is in the position to advise rabbit owners on their care.

Learning Outcomes

  • Knowledge of how to help owners improve their rabbits life and meeting a rabbits basic species needs.
  • Confidence in advising rabbit owners in making real improvements to their pets life and well being.
  • The ability to make a huge difference to rabbit welfare.
