Linda qualified as a veterinary nurse in 2002 from general practice. She then worked at the Royal Veterinary College, before moving on to Edinburgh University’s Hospital for Small Animals in 2004. There she obtained the Diploma in Advanced Veterinary Nursing (Medical) in 2005, before becoming oncology nurse with the cancer service in 2006. In 2009, she became a Veterinary Technician Specialist in Oncology, and a member of the Academy of Internal Medicine for Veterinary Technicians.
Linda has won multiple awards throughout her career, including highest exam marks in both the 1st & 2nd years of the RCVS Veterinary Nursing exams, as well as top exam results in her year in the Diploma in Advanced Veterinary Nursing. She is the 1st (& still only) Veterinary Technician Specialist in the U.K. & Europe.
As well as her specialist interest in oncology, Linda also has interests in analgesia, clinical nutrition, medical nursing, behavioural health & welfare, maintenance of optimum quality of life in chronically ill patients & clinical teaching. Linda regularly writes & presents on these topics for the veterinary press & at CPD events.
In 2012, Linda became a graduate of the Karen Pryor Academy for Animal Training & Behaviour. She currently owns & runs Pawsitive Pet Teaching, aimed at pet & owner training & education, as well as CPD provision to fellow professionals.
