The Gambia Horse and Donkey Trust

Abstract

This bitesize lecture looks at the work of the Gambia Horse and Donkey Trust and what an amazing experience it is to volunteer with them.  Presented by a previous RVN volunteer the lecture shows different activities the Trust does in The Gambia, including both veterinary health care such as wound management, and education in schools and of owners, and highlights how important it is that VNs do volunteer, for both the donkeys and for the communites as a whole.

Abstract

This bitesize lecture looks at the work of Mission Rabies in its aim of eliminating rabies by 2030, and how VN volunteers can help make a phenomenal difference in this project.  It focuses on volunteering in India and is presented by an RVN who volunteered with The Worldwide Veterinary Service in the project.

Vet Nurse Volunteering Series: UK – Hand Raising Puppies and Kittens

Abstract

The third bitesize case study in the Vet Nurse Online Volunteering Series, focusing on raising orphaned puppies and kittens by hand in the UK.  The report shows the work done by VN Ashley Crews who was awarded the Vet Nurse Online Volunteering for Animal Welfare Grant in 2014. The lecture then follows on with an in depth presentation focusing specifically on hand rearing and nutrition of puppies by in order to provide guidance to others in their volunteering in this way.

Vet Nurse Volunteering Series: Tolfa

Abstract

The second case study in the Vet Nurse Online Volunteering Series, focusing on voluntary work in India at the Tree of Life for Animals Hospital (Tolfa).  VN Emma Simmons was awarded a grant from Vet Nurse Online towards volunteering at Tolfa and this bitesize report shows the work done there.  It discusses animal welfare in India and the work done by the charity and the volunteering opportunities for veterinary nurses at the clinic. It looks at the necessity of neutering and the importance of working to eradicate rabies.
