This bitesize lecture is the fourth case study in the Vet Nurse Online Volunteering series and provides a report of volunteering as a Vet Nurse in South Africa.  It focuses on the work done by Sam Brown RVN, who was awarded the Vet Nurse Online Volunteering for Animal Welfare Grant and went to volunteer at Moholoholo Wildlife Rehibilitation Centre in South Africa and it aims to inspire others in similar voluntary work.

The Gambia Horse and Donkey Trust

Abstract

This bitesize lecture looks at the work of the Gambia Horse and Donkey Trust and what an amazing experience it is to volunteer with them.  Presented by a previous RVN volunteer the lecture shows different activities the Trust does in The Gambia, including both veterinary health care such as wound management, and education in schools and of owners, and highlights how important it is that VNs do volunteer, for both the donkeys and for the communites as a whole.

Abstract

The third bitesize case study in the Vet Nurse Online Volunteering Series, focusing on raising orphaned puppies and kittens by hand in the UK.  The report shows the work done by VN Ashley Crews who was awarded the Vet Nurse Online Volunteering for Animal Welfare Grant in 2014. The lecture then follows on with an in depth presentation focusing specifically on hand rearing and nutrition of puppies by in order to provide guidance to others in their volunteering in this way.
