Management and Prevention of Stress and Anxiety in Canine Clients

Abstract

This lecture focuses on the prevention and management of stress and anxiety in canines. It first discusses canine communication and recognising communication signals, goes on to discuss why training a dog is critical to reducing behaviour and temperament problems, and concludes by discussing the prevention and management of canine stress and anxiety in veterinary practice.

Learning Outcomes

  • An understanding of the causes of stress and anxiety in canines and how to prevent both.
  • The confidence to advise owners on how to help lower stress levels in their dog and prevent stress of canine clients within veterinary practice.
