Abstract

This lecture focuses on the prevention and management of stress and anxiety in canines. It first discusses canine communication and recognising communication signals, goes on to discuss why training a dog is critical to reducing behaviour and temperament problems, and concludes by discussing the prevention and management of canine stress and anxiety in veterinary practice.

This lecture highlights the issue of homeless cats in the UK, and what can be done to improve the situation. It discusses the reasons for carrying out early neutering of cats and gives a considered approach to possible concerns. It then looks at the procedure itself, and also what vet nurses can do to actively promote early neutering in practice.

This bitesize lecture focuses on ethics in relation to Veterinary Practice. It uses scenarios that create the ethical issue of convenience euthanasia to discuss practical ethical thinking. It gives consideration to resolving ethical dilemmas in practice and discusses why ethical debate in the workplace is a positive and necessary thing.
